Getting Time Clock MTS working with MySQL database is a pretty simple task but does require some knoweledge of MySQL and how to administer it. Just follow the instructions below and you'll be up and running in no time.

1. Create Your MySQL Database

The first step is to create your MySQL database using the Time Clock MTS Access database as a template. You must have installed the admin version of Time Clock MTS first, and can use your existing populated timeclock.mdb file as a template.

1. If your version of Time Clock MTS is licenses for enhanced database support (the trial version is) then there will be an entry on the Tools Menu called 'Generate MySQL Script'. Log in as the administrator and select this menu item. Windows Notepad will popup with a database creation script that can be used to create your MySQL database. You can do this from the MySQL command line or using some MySQL Admin tool like mysqlcc. Note that currently only the database structure is created, no data is moved when you create your MySQL database.
2. Once you have created your database make sure there is a database user defined that can be used by Time Clock MTS. This user must have permissions to add and delete data and tables.

2. Setting Up the Time Clock MTS Admin program to Work with MySQL

1. First thing you'll need to do is download and install the MySQL ODBC 3.51 drivers. These enable Time Clock MTS to access your MySQL database. They can be downloaded from the MySQL Website here: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/3.51.html
2. Once the drivers have been installed start up the main Time Clock MTS program, login as the administrator and go to the Tools->Options menu.
3. Go to the System Options and here you can configure the MySQL details. Enter all the details (including server, database name, database user, and user password) and click the Test MySQL Connection button. If you get a message saying all is OK select the MySQL Database option from the database type dropdown box.
4. Click OK to save the changes.

Possible Problems
1.If the MySQL option is disabled then you're a licensed user but haven't purchased Enhanced Database support or your trial has expired.

2.If you encounter a hard crash or access violation the first time you run Time Clock MTS after configuring the MySQL connection then you should install the most recent version of MDAC from Microsoft, which can be downloaded from here:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/data/aa937730.aspx

3. Setting Up the Time Clock MTS Client to Work with SQL Server
1. If you're running the 30 day trial of Time Clock MTS you'll be able to use MySQL as a backend. If you've purchased Time Clock MTS you'll only be able to use it if you checked the 'Enable Enhanced Database Support' box on the order form and paid the license fee..
2. First thing you'll need to do is download and install the MySQL ODBC 3.51 drivers. These enable Time Clock MTS to access your MySQL database. They can be downloaded from the MySQL Website here: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/3.51.html
3. Install the Time Clock MTS Client.
4. The first time you run the Time Clock MTS Client you'll be shown the Database Connection Wizard.
4. Select the MySQL option and enter all the appropriate database details into the text boxes. When you're done click the 'Test Connection' button to make sure a connection can be made to database.
5. Click Finish when you're done and you should now be running the Time Clock MTS Client while connected to your MySQL database.

Possible Problems
1.If the MySQL Backend option is disabled then you're a licensed user but haven't purchased Enhanced Database support.

2.If you encounter a hard crash or access violation the first time you run the Time Clock MTS Client after configuring the MySQL connection then you should install the most recent version of MDAC from Microsoft, which can be downloaded from here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/downloads/default.aspx
