The second change allows you to right click on the project drop down on the Add/Edit Time screen. This pops up a menu allowing to either hide or show the project number in this dropdown list. This could be useful if you want to search the project list by either typing in the first few characters of the project number or the project name.

• Various reports have been optimized for generation speed and data displayed. Where possible only projects with actual activity during the reporting period are now displayed. Reports improved include the Detailed Activity Report, the Weekly and Two Week Timesheet, the Employee Project Grid, the Common Activity Report, and the Project Completion/Details reports.
• Fixes to the headers of the Weekly and Two Week Timesheet reports where there is no employee activity.
• Resized the Welcome Wizard screen to show all the buttons correctly.
• Welcome Wizard now detects if a user is trying to connect the software to a pre version 3 Timesheets Lite database.
• Welcome Wizard will now run again if a user cancels out of the wizard.
• Fix to the task timer for regions where the decimal separator is something other than a period (.).
• Added the time description to the timer status box on the timesheet.
• Tooltips added to the project and time descriptions in the timer status box on the timesheet. Useful if the description is larger than the available display area.

• Completely changed the database connection routines which copes much better with larger data sets. This should fix up the "cannot open more tables" error that was seen from time to time.
• A lot of time spent optimizing load speeds for large project/time/employee record sets.
• Significant load speed improvements on all manage data screens, the add/edit time screen, the report configuration screen, and the invoicing screen.
• Some more fixes for the import data wizard.
• Removed the tooltip popups from various lists which has improved load speed considerably.
• Busy cursors added to various areas of the program including loading data on the manage data screens and the report configuration screen.
• Timesheet column widths are now remembered properly.
• Timesheet column order is now remembered.
• Fixed the last column of the Two Week Timesheet report which was not displaying the time format correctly.
• Added an "All Dates" option to the report configuration screen.
• Added the period dates to the summary lines at the bottom of the timesheet.
• Changes to the "Show Activity Column on Timesheet" now takes place immediately rather than on software re-start.

• Timesheet totals at the bottom of the timesheet are now for the month/week of the currently selected timesheet day rather than for the current calendar month and week.
• Fixed the common activity report which was not displaying correctly if there were more than 7 activities defined.
• Updated the tips.txt file.
• Added catch to allow exiting from the software if the timesheet summary thread doesn't ever exit.

• The timesheet date (and contents) now change when navigating around the calendar with the keyboard cursor keys.
• If there is activity recorded on a date in the timesheet calendar that day is now shown with bold text.
• Most text boxes have been changed to left alignment.
• Catch put in place to stop an error being thrown when the software is closed before the timesheet summary data capture thread is completed.
• Catch put in place to stop multiple timesheet data summary threads being created.
• Fix to login screen which was not showing the employee login status properly.
• Fix to broken SQL Server/MySQL script creation process.

1. Added a "Show Closed Projects" checkbox to the Manage Projects screen.
2. Added fore and background colors to projects. Effects how projects are displayed on the timesheet.
3. Column widths on the manage data screens are remembered.
4. Projects are displayed with project numbers in dropdown lists and on the timesheet.
5. Time spent optimizing the process of loading up multiple times from the database. Speed has improved about 400%.
6. Time spent optimizing the timesheet summary area to improve refresh speed.
7. Fix to monthly/weekly timesheet totals of more than 24 hours.
8. Fix to import data wizard which wasn't matching up Customers with projects correctly.

Thanks must go out to some Timesheets Lite users who have helped me out greatly during the last couple of days.

• Fix to data import wizard for projects who have a project manager or were created by and employee that no longer exists.
• Gave the data import page of the import data wizard a proper page title.
• Fix to data import wizard which was not bringing in some non billable times correctly.
• Fix to the hh:mm:ss display format on the timesheet summary box.

• Two fixes to the system for importing data from previous versions of Timesheets Lite. The first was preventing time descriptions being brought in correctly, the second was causing only sporadic assignment of times to the correct common activities.
• Fixed a hard crash that occurred when running the data import wizard when the old version of Timesheets Lite had not actually been installed on the computer.
• Applied fixes to all the screens to resize automatically when large window fonts were used.
• Fixed some resizing issues on the Invoicing and Report Configuration screens.
• An option is now given to run the welcome wizard if no employees have been created.

• Added Data Import tool for bringing in data from versions of Timesheets Lite prior to Version 3.0.1. Can be found on the Tools->Import Data menu. Note that this will not work for importing data from the free version of Timesheets Lite. We have an in-house tool to do this so please email us your free Timesheets Lite database if you'd like it imported into the current version of the software.
• Fixed up a problem with the "Frequently Used Projects" menu when using SQL Server or MySQL.
• The System Options page now allows selection of an Access database location while connected to a SQL Server or MySQL database.
• When the System Options page is used to connect to a new database the structure of the database is examined to ensure it's a valid Timesheets Lite database.
• Fixed up the reports that threw an error when just one employee was selected.
• Time description is now included on the Detailed Activity report.

• Set the default application skin to Money Twins (the light blue skin used in all the screenshots on this site).
• Fixed a page ordering problem with the first run wizard.
• Resized the first run wizard window to a more sensible size.
• Added some more information to the error reporting form.
• Made some changes to the task timer to reduce database load including updating the time to the database every 10 seconds and changing the update method to a less data intensive procedure.
• Changed the database connection mode for the default Access backend to a more optimistic method and changed the data locking to record locking rather than page locking. Should result in less connection errors with heavily loaded systems.
• Stopped event logging for attempted loads of common activities and employees with an ID of 0.
• The software now closes database connections when they are not in use rather than having a persistent connection.

Timesheets Lite Registration Email

The basic process for registering the software is as follows:

1. Start up Timesheets Lite and go to the Help->Registration screen.
2. Copy the Registration Name from the email and paste it to the Registration Name field in Timesheets Lite.
3. Copy the Registration Key from the email and paste it to the Registration Key field in Timesheets Lite.

4. Once you're happy with the details click the Unlock Software button. If you've entered the registration information correctly you'll get a registration successful message (see below).

Timesheets Lite also offers a quicker and easier way of registering the software. If you want to try this method here are the steps:

1. Copy the Registration License shortcut text from the registration email. This is highlighted in the email above. This text starts with **being cut here** and ends with the text **end cut here**.
2. Start up Timesheets Lite and go to the Help->Registration page. Timesheets Lite will detect the Timesheets Lite registration information in the Windows Clipboard and show you the prompt below.

3. Click Yes and the Registration screen will be shown with the Registration Name and Registration Key fields already filled in for you!
4. Click the Unlock Software button you'll get a registration successful message.

1. Decide on a location on your network where your Timesheets Lite database is going to reside. This location should ideally be a shared network drive. It must be accessible from every computer that will have Timesheets Lite installed on it and each of those computers must have full read/write/execute/delete permissions on the folder where the database is going to reside.
2. Install Timesheets Lite onto a single PC. Log into the software as a super user (you'll set one up the first time you run Timesheets Lite) and go to the Tools->Options->System Options screen.
3. Move the Timesheets Lite database to the location decided on in Point 1 above. Do this by clicking the Move Existing Database button and then click Yes to confirm that you want to move the database.
4. Using the directory navigator that appears navigate to the location decided on in Point 1 above and click OK to confirm the move.
5. If the move is successful you'll get a message telling you that you're connected to the database at the new location.
6. The next step is to install Timesheets Lite on the other computers in your work place and connect them to the database which we've moved in the preceding steps.
7. Download and install Timesheets Lite onto the other computers. The first time you run the software you'll be shown the "Welcome to Timesheets Lite" wizard. Choose the "Customize Settings" option on this wizard and then click the Next button.

8. On the next screen of the Wizard (see screenshot above) you'll be asked to choose a database type, choose "Access" and click Next.
9. On the next screen of the Wizard you'll be asked to choose a database location, click the Browse button and navigate to the database you moved in Point 4 above and click the Next button.
10. Click the Finish button to close the Wizard and Timesheets Lite will start up connected to your shared database.
11. Repeat the process from Step 6 onwards for all your other Timesheets Lite computers.

Note that if you've already installed Timesheets Lite on a computer and want to connect it to an existing database you can do so on the the Tools->Options->System Options by clicking the Connect to New Database button.

We're happy to announce that Timesheets Lite Version 3 has been released. This version is a complete re-write of the program from the ground up which brings much better reliability and compatibility with different versions of Windows. It also brings an attractive new interface, a lot of useful new features, and a much improved set of documentation and help for new users. Key improvements in Timesheets Lite Version 3 include:

• A first run wizard for new users.
• An easy to use database connection wizard
• Completely re-written and re-structured help documentation which is also available online (see the Timesheets Lite Online Help).
• An all new reporting engine that produces much more attractive and flexible reports that are easily exported and emailed. See the Timesheets Lite Reporting Help Topic for more information.
• An all new timesheet interface with many improvements to time entry for employees. See the Timesheet Help Topic for more information.
• A completely new way of managing employees,projects, ,common activities and ,customers.
• Much better integration with SQL Server and for the first time integration with MySQL. You can now generate SQL Server or MySQL database creation scripts that take your data from the default Timesheets Lite database to either MySQL or SQL Server.
• SQL Server and MySQL integration is now included in the basic license fee rather than being an optional extra.

Timesheets Lite was originally conceived and developed in 2001-2002 using a development language which was fine for those times. However, with the imminent release of Windows 8 we decided several months ago that we'd re-write Timesheets Lite from the ground up in a completely new (and modern) development language to help future proof the product. That process is now complete. As a result, later today we'll be uploading what we're calling Timesheets Lite Version 3, but what is in reality, a completely new product.

We've made sure to add all of the critical features to this new version that our users require plus we've added a bunch of new stuff that we are sure you'll all appreciate, such as an entirely new (and powerful) reporting engine, much improved project and customer management, and an attractive new timesheet interface On the flip side of this some features haven't made the transition to the new version because we've decided they can be added later and in some cases they will not be added at all. The employee messaging system is the main feature that will not be seen in Timesheets Lite from this point forward.

In the last 10 years we've learned a lot and using what we learned we've completely re-designed the Timesheets Lite database for better data integrity and reliability. Because of this, Timesheets Lite V3 IS NOT data compatible with prior versions of the software. So, currently there's no upgrade path for existing users. We'll fix this in the coming months but right now we're focussing on getting the new software working as reliably as possible. That being said, Timesheets Lite V3 can be installed on the same computer as older versions of Timesheets Lite but they cannot use the same data.
