17 December 2004 - Ordering Deck Supplies

I spent a fair bit of time on the phone today ordering the timber, timber fixings, excavator, and portable waste bin. In the final breakdown of costs was:
Timber / Concrete / Fixings

• 5 x 90mm x 90mm by 2.7m H4 Permapine Posts
• 18 x 140mm x 45mm by 3.6m H4 Permapine DAR Planks
• 48 100mm Joist Hangers to suit planks
• 15 x 20kg Rapidset Concrete
• 4 x 200mm x 100mm x 2.4m rough cut sleepers
• Total Cost: $1099.21

• 24 hr Hire of narrow skid steer loader/excavator
• Total Cost: $230

• 4 cubic meter waste bin
• Total Cost: $160

I'm pretty excited about the excavator, it's been a long time since I've got to play with a big mechanical toy like this. The waste bin is worrying me a little. Theoretically I should only be removing 3 cubic meters of soil from the site, so it should be OK.
